Organic Dog FoodsOrganic dog foods often involuntarily follow the organic laws for humans. For humans there is the National Organic Program to ensure that products meet the organic standards set by the government.
Organic foods fall into four one of four categories:1. 100% organic Any product that is labeled as organic must identify each ingredient and its origins. The fee for violating this is a very small fee of only $1000 for someone who knowingly sells or labels organic products with the National Organic Program's seal. In order to carry the official USDA organic seal the food must be certified at least 95% organic. It must be produced without most pesticides, fertilizers, growth hormones, and antibiotics. There is no organic program for fish. |
